Nvidia 1628 failed to complete installation

Come for the solution, stay for everything else. Welcome to our community! I am attempting to install Quake 4 onto my home PC; 2 Gig ram, 3 gig machine, XP Pro, acer 17" flat screen monitor, gig hard drive, 2 dvds home network with 4 computers, too. In other words, a full blown machine with all the bells and whistles, with the latest updates for MS, monitor, drivers, etc.

Yet, upon repeatedly trying to install Quake 4, I receive the above error Error: failed to complete installation. I have undeleted each time, done a full erase using system mechanic 6. However, I just can't get this game running.

As on the thread, I see that ppl have it working.

My error happens right at the install, when it prepares for installation. I had a similair problem. I can't remember excactly how I solved the problem. Where does it fails? Is it when it tried to install DirectX 9? Do you any thing in the Event log? Is ona fresh install? Do you install it righ after W7, before any other apps? Try the action center, you might find a solution there. Edited by tgs Thursday, August 6, PM. I will try again later, hopefully its temporary. I will post any results!

Solution 2: For Windows 10 and above. Solution 2. If you still want the driver updates in the future, please try Solution 2.

Step 1: Check if there is an antivirus program running on your computer, close it temporarily because antivirus influences the driver update. Step 2: Choose and download the right drivers according to the graphics and system on your computer. Step 5: Restart the system after the installation is finished and check if everything runs well.

If the problem remains, please go to Solution 2. This way, you will not get the latest updates automatically with Driver Booster but manually update those drivers every time when there is an update.

Solution 3 : Reinstall Windows. If both Solution 1 and 2 can not help you fix Nvidia installer failed, it might be related to your system environment. We suggest you reinstall Windows
